The Ruf Group is pleased to announce a strategic pan-European partnership with Observit AB. Observit is an innovative Swedish technology company offering cloud-based video surveillance, edge computing, and AI-powered analytics for public transportation.
The agreement formalizes a collaboration that has already delivered value in joint customer projects and sets the stage for expanded cooperation across Europe’s train market.
“We’re excited to partner with Observit, whose solutions meet the increasing demands of modern train operators for cybersecurity, remote diagnostics, and scalable video infrastructure,” says Hans Streuli, CEO of the Ruf Group. “This partnership strengthens our ability to serve customers with smart, connected, and regulation-compliant onboard systems and reaffirms the Ruf Group’s leading role in shaping the future of passenger information.”
As a first milestone in the partnership, the Ruf Group and Observit have now started their initial delivery of more than 700 cameras for a train operator in the Netherlands.
Through the agreement, the Ruf Group will act as an official reseller and system integrator of Observit’s technology across key European markets. Observit’s software-only approach—offering cloud-managed video surveillance, real-time streaming, and integration with third-party alarm centers—fits seamlessly into the Ruf Group’s modular architecture of the VisiWeb passenger information system. With VisiWeb Video Surveillance as a Service (VSaaS), the Ruf Group is ushering in the next generation of video surveillance for rail customers.
“For some time now, we’ve been working closely with the Ruf Group on joint projects, and this agreement is a natural next step,” says Björn Callenfors, CEO of Observit. “Their experience and reputation in the train industry are unmatched. Together, we can offer rail customers a highly scalable, secure, and future-proof solution for onboard video and analytics.”
The companies will jointly engage in new tenders, technology pilots, and long-term projects aimed at increasing passenger safety, operational efficiency, and compliance with evolving security standards across European rail networks.
