The DME AppBox is a Mobile Enterprise Application Platform (MEAP). Within the protected container, it provides secure access to business applications which communicate by web server. For example, with the AppBox you have:
- in-house access to the Intranet, including SharePoint, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle etc.
- in-house start pages for application access
- in-house portals for mobile devices
- in-house "App Stores"
Making business processes mobile
Numerous processes, ranging from time and cost planning to vacation requests and order confirmations, can be developed for the AppBox and simply distributed on smartphones or tablets. The existing policies and security mechanisms of the DME infrastructure always apply.
Develop once and then use on numerous devices
When staff bring their phones and tablets to work, it is usually inevitable that the IT department has to support a whole range of different device types. But with the AppBox form-based apps are developed once and then distributed to all devices supported by DME without any code adaptation.
SharePoint and browser-based environments
Within the DME container, the secure browser allows portals, the Intranet, SharePoint environments, and other web-based services to be accessed without native applications being required on the smartphone or tablet. Which users can access which internal web servers is defined centrally in the DME administration.
