The VisiWeb PIS computer system communicates outside the vehicle with the suppliers of timetable and real-time data and inside the vehicle with all other PIS components in the railcar or an entire train composition.
The computer system comprises a modular process computer and one or more remote control panels. During operation the PIS computer controls almost all PIS functions automatically, in particular acoustic announcements, line-based displays and graphic information displays.
The control panel allows the train driver to input the essential data for the beginning of the route (such as the train, line, route or circulation number), and to start the system. The train driver is also able to intervene manually in the PIS via the control panel, for example to make spontaneous announcements or to display additional information in the event of negative transport conditions, or to provide acoustic information.
